Day 303 Samhain 2010

Very quiet Halloween. Definitely not like Halloweens in the past. We watched movies most of the day.
Only 3 trick or treaters. I thought we would get more because the weather had cleared some what. But I guess being a Sunday night had something to do with it.

Day 302

Very quiet Saturday. I did accomplish going to the library and dropped off Chris' election ballot and picked up the books I had on hold.
This damp coldness outside just keeps me from doing much.

Day 301

Had a bad cough that came on all of sudden again last night. It's been damp and cold all day, so, decided to stay in and kick this thing.
Things accomplished:
Dr appointments made for both of us.
Not much else to say about today.

Day 300

The rain held off until the afternoon, which was a good thing since I drove up to Deaconess to fill out the form to request my medical records. They should be ready to pick up by next Friday. On my way home I stopped and picked up precriptions. By the time these errands were run, I was done for the day.

Samhain (Halloween) Altar

Day 299

Yay No Snow! The snow went south of Spokane. But it is still cold with no let up in sight.
Things accomplished today:
Library card renewed.
Spokane Cardiology called regarding paperwork.
Deaconess called regarding picking up records.
Called Humanix.
Lots of Halloween themed shows on tv tonight. I love those. Plus LA Ink. This episode will answer why she is no longer with the Motley Crue guy.
I may watch Practical Magic tomorrow. It is my favorite Halloween movie.

Day 298

Things accomplished today:
Voted - Ballots completed for Michael and myself
Mailed paperwork back
A definite touch of winter today. It was downright cold!! First chance of snow for us is predicted for tomorrow. I hope they are wrong.

Monday, October 25, 2010

Day 297

Busy day where I got quite a bit accomplished.
Blood Draw at PAML - check
Mailed bill payments and Netflix movies back - check
Rite Aid for the few essentials that were needed - check
Banner Fuel called and Guardian Plan appointment made and fuel ordered - check
Then we stopped and had lunch at Rancho Chico. So nice visiting with Jose. Food was better than usual. It's such a small town sometimes. Michael's old boss came in with a date. Nice chance meeting.
Rainy, windy and cold is the weather for today. It snowed up on Mt Spokane overnight. Seems like an early winter will be happening this year.

Day 296

Konagod has written a meme and I have chosen to play along. He frequently thinks back on famous people I have seen randomly in public and has decided to make a list for himself so he won't forget.
If you want to play along, be my guest, but here are the rules. It has to be random and unexpected. You can't list Madonna if you paid money to see her in concert! However, if she invited you up on stage, then yeah, you can list her.
James Caan - Salinas Rodeo 1972. He was checking my horse's hoof. I was thrilled.
Will Geer - At a senate fundraiser event. What an amazing man he was, activist, actor, poet. I couldn't help proving to him I knew all the words from the movie Jeramiah Johnson. I think he was surprised I recognized him as Bear Claw instead of Grampa Walton.
Roy Rogers - CMA Awards Show at Opryland in Nashville, TN . It was fabulous meeting and talking with my long time hero.
James Lee Burke - Auntie's Bookstore, Spokane WA. It was awesome to meet my favorite author of all time. Listened to his first book, we had rented the audio book from a truckstop in South Louisiana, Black Cherry Blues. I've been hooked ever since.

Day 295

I had such a bad night last night. We woke to rain just like they predicted. Maybe this spell if from the weather. I cancelled the pup's grooming appointment. Good day to snuggle in, put my feet up and relax.

Friday, October 22, 2010

Day 294

The soup is smelling so good. Now onto making cornbread to go with it.
Went to the appointment with the attorney. I liked him and the nurse. My next step is to secure my medical records and get the pictures to him.
Getting cloudy this afternoon. We may get that rain they have been forecasting afterall.
We watched that Tommy Lee Jones' movie Missing. It was good. Not the best Tommy Lee Jones movie as was told by the person who lent us the movie, but, definitely a good one. This weekend we have more Deadwood to watch and a movie titled Leap Year.
I watched the episode of Parenthood I DVR'd the other night. It was a Halloween themed show. Loved it! The show is so well written and the characters are so rich. Definitiely a hit. Well, David did not get sent home on the Apprentice. Maybe next week. I think they keep him on for the tv drama he creates. A guy we all love to hate.

Day 293

I actually went to the store today and survived! I'm going to make a soup using beef short ribs. I think the bones in the ribs will give the soup more flavor. Plus I'm going to add some pasta and some beans. Sort of like a minestrone. It will be perfect tomorrow when it's cold and ready to start raining.
The trees all over town are turning color. Oh my gumbo, they are so beautiful!! I should have taken some pictures. Maybe tomorrow before it rains. Alot of the houses are putting up their Halloween decorations. I want to take some pictures of those too. Can you tell I love fall? This weekend I am going to hang the pumpkin lights in the front window. I am still looking for the translucent witch poster for the front window too. Couldn't find one last year. Maybe I can make one.

Day 290

I think I have more Halloween/Samhain pictures saved than I have days left in October. Seems as we get older days fly by faster.
I've been thinking of simplier times.

Day 286

It is the time of burning leaves,
The crispness of the air has awakened
Memories both dark and hidden,
Memories of past feasts partaken.
I sit comfortly in this silent room
Computer keyboard beneath my fingers
Yet...my mind is never frozen here
In times past it wants to linger.
I 'see' a bonfire raging on a hilltop
With my people all gathered around
Our prayers to the Gods I shout,
Yet, in my dreams I hear not a sound.
The drums beat, the people dance
Wildness fills the autumn night.
The Other Side is so very close--The Veil just beyond the fire light.
I reach, I feel, I almost touch...Spirit fingers entwine with mortal
Then dawn's first light appears
And seals again the fragile portal.
I turn away from the cold ashes
Let the wildness leave my aching soul.
Another year til another Samhain...On that night again I'll be whole

Day 283

It's kind of a blur now. I remember it was a postal and bank holiday. So not much to say work wise.
I did make a call to an attorney that will hopefully consider my case. He is out of town for a trial this week but did talk to someone in his office.
I love Mondays because that is one of Michael's day off. Always nice to spend time together.

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Day 282

Poured buckets all night and today was not much better. But we did get out of the house. Went to breakfast and then took a drive out to the valley. We are trying to decide where we might want to move to once we sell the house. The valley is definitley out. Too far from friends and Chris and from anything we want to do.
When we got home I laid down and took a nap. I could not believe it was 5:30 when I woke up. Chris brought spaghetti pie over for dinner that Bernie had made. It was really good.

Saturday, October 9, 2010

Day 281

An absolutely do nothing day. Did not go anywhere or do anything. Nothing to post today.

Friday, October 8, 2010

Day 280

Talked to the president of the doctor's association at Deaconess Hospital. Gardner has been officially reprimanded and is now on probation. I am still deciding if I want to further this.
We went to, I think, the worse restaurant in Spokane. China Dragon across from the Northtown Mall. We wanted to eat in the bar away from all families with children, but, all the seats were taken. So we went and sat in the dining room. And yes, screaming children at almost 1/2 of the tables. The food was cold and greasy. I took 4 bites and that was it. I wanted to spit it out in my napkin. We should have went to King Yen where we always go, but, M wanted to go here. Next time - anytime we want chinese its King Yen on Monroe.

Day 279

Rained most of the day. And my body felt like the dreary rain. I wish the dogs had a covered grassy area to keep them dry from the rain when they go out in the back for duty time.
I came home from work turned on the heat and put my feet up. No cooking of any kind tonight. I ordered pasta from Pizza Hut. Michael's choice. I finally got a little bit of my appetite back today.
I am officially sick of campaign ads!!! I'm all for limiting the money a politician can spend on their campaigns. Thank goodness for my DVR. I can fast forward through those suckers. I wish I could go to the Murray vs Rossi debate. Almost entered the KHQ lottery for a ticket. I could think of some good questions for both of them. I wonder who went to Rossi after losing the last 2 elections and said to him, "Hey, you did so well in the last 2 elections, we want to back you in another race - this time for senator" What did he promise to get someone to pay for him to run again.
Grey's Anatomy and the Apprentice are on tonight! Yay. 2 of my favorite shows. I sure hope they kick David off the Apprentice tonight.

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

Day 278

Kept real busy all day at work.
BJ confirmed she has her tickets to come up in November. It will be nice to see her. We will take her up to see her Grandma's resting place in Chewelah.
Not much else going on this afternoon.

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Day 277

Another day of work and then off to a doctor's appointment with Finn Taylor. What a fantastic medical specialist. He is now my go to medical person.
Weather will be beautiful for next 2 days and then it should be cooler with rain.
I love this picture because it reminds of the weather we are enjoying right now.

Monday, October 4, 2010

Day 276

Still not feeling great but managed to make it through work and got quite a bit done.
Dr appointment this afternoon showed why I am so tired. My coumadin level was fine at 2.9 but after the EKG my heartbeat was running 120 to 140 beats. Left with the nurse saying Dr Lubbe would call me tonight.
I got a nice letter with pictures from my Aunt Louise who lives in Florida. I wish I could go visit her. She is the closet person I have to my Mom. I will definitely have to sit down and write her a letter.
I have had no appetite which worries everyone. So we went to Round Table so I could have a salad. It tasted good, but, was hard to keep down all night.
Dr Lubbe called and he increased some of my medicine. Hopefully I will feel better in the days to come.

Sunday, October 3, 2010

Day 275

I love this picture. So sureal. I especially love her pirate dress.
I feel bad, I did absolutely nothing all day. I am so tired and exhausted, and yet, I have done nothing.

Saturday, October 2, 2010

Day 274

Slept in this morning, because, well, we could. Took us forever to get going so around 12:30 or so we ventured out and got something for lunch.
We drove up to Greenbluff. It was such a gorgeous day! The trees are beginning to change color here and there. I love when they are in full brillant color. When we got up the hill it was so crowded. There were like 2 or 3 different festivals going on. I'm not ready for that much walking, especially through crowds of people. So we drove on through and headed for home.
I just was not up to snuff today, so when we got home I took a 2 hour nap. Hoping tomorrow will be better.

Day 273

Happy Birthday to me. It was a great day filled with happiness and joy. Now for some star gazing.
