Day 59

Just a peaceful Sunday. Content with my world.

Saturday, February 27, 2010

Day 58

Just a typical Saturday for us. Lots of sun and I even saw a temperature sign say 56 degrees! Took the dogs to the groomer while Michael went to see Dr Lenoue. We met back at the house and then went to lunch. After lunch we went and bought him a nice new dress shirt in his favorite dark maroon color.
We finally bought new mattresses for the Craftmatic beds in our guest room. Found them at a local furniture store at 1/2 the price of Furniture Row. They had to be ordered and will arrive Thursday.
The afternoon we spent the day doing chores and watching tv. We also watched the movie The Ugly Truth. It was funny and worth renting. he ending was a little predictable but that was okay too.

Day 57

I blew off going and getting the CPAP mask. I am just not ready to commit to it. I am sleeping so well that I don't want to mess it up. I may order another sleep study to see if it is really needed.
I did not have even one number on the Mega Millions ticket that I bought. No 99 million dollars for me.
Looks like a mixed weather bag of a weekend, but, it still going to be fun!

Day 56

Sleeping good, trying to stick to the diet and working diligently at work.
Last night I was invited to join the boys in their night out. We went to the Davenport Towers for dinner. Pretty swanky. If I win the lottery I would live in nice hotels, starting with Davenport Hotel in Spokane. I could think of hundreds of wonderful hotels across the country that could be "home".

Day 55

This morning I am going in for a nuclear stress test. This is where they inject isotopes into me to stress the heart to see if it is bleeding anywhere. They said 2 hours, I'm hoping for less. Then regular tests and a visit with the cardiologist.
Tonight Michael has a boys night out planned, so I am free as a bird.

Day 54

I slept so good last night. Even dreamed. Yesterday was such a bad day. But I'm going to shake it off and look forward to what today brings.

Day 53

This is how I felt today. Knives out. Are all doctor's offices becoming the same? Too busy to help their patients, too cynical to even be nice to their customers?
I called the clinic because I thought just maybe my doctor might want to see me after I had the heart procedure last Friday. My goodness the run around you have to go through. The first person was nice enough and said she would call me right back. I waited 3 hours for a call back which never came. I called and got another person who was so snotty I wanted to go through the phone and just bitch slap her. She actually told me I would need to be patient. I think 3 hours is being pretty damn patient. I slammed the phone down so hard I think the whole office heard it. Amazingly after I did that another person called me back and said yes, the doctor would like to see me, like I should be grateful. When I slammed the phone down I was thinking of finding a new doctor. We have 4 huge hospitals in town and hundreds of clinics and lots of doctors to choose from. The day and the phone calls to doctors' offices went downhill from there. All I'm saying is after the thousands of dollars myself and my insurance company have paid you, can you not show a little customer service?
I know I am difficult and probably way annoying. But I have never been this sick before. I have questions, I have concerns and I don't like being blown off and treated like a pain in the ass. I don't need your lectures. Okay rant over.
Does anyone else have issues with their clinics and doctor's nurses?

Day 52

More recooperating.
Watched NASCAR on the Califoria track to see Jimmie Johnson win once more.

Saturday, February 20, 2010

Day 51

No driving, just recooperating.

Friday, February 19, 2010

Day 50

Spent the morning relaxing getting ready to go to Deaconness. Then the nurse calls and said can you come right now, we moved up the schedule. No time to worry, just time to go.
Lots of commotion and a swarm of people to get you ready. They gave me the stuff that makes you not remember and then asked if I would roll to my side. LOL, sure. Gone before I knew I was on my side. Camera down, no clots, 2 zaps and my heart is back to normal. Toast and diet 7 up and then wheelchair ride to the car.
I know it was the prescribed Avandia that did this to me. I am now 100% sure. If you are on Avandia, stop NOW. Do not take any more. When the class action suit is filed I will sign my name to it. They knew since 2007 that this causes heart problems, but, did not share until this year.

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Day 49

Cardioverson is a nonsurgical procedure used to change the heartbeat from an irregular rhythm, called atrial fibrillation, to a normal, regular rhythm. Small amounts of electrical current are given through patches or paddles placed on the check and back. The electrical current restores the heart to a normal rhythm.

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Day 48

Sleep Apnea is a common disorder in which you have one or more pauses in breathing or shallow breaths while you sleep. (Try 38 times per hour)
Breathing pauses can last a few seconds to minutes. They often occur 5 to 30 times or more an hour. Typically, normal breathing then starts again, sometimes with a loud snort or choking sound.
Sleep apnea usually is a chronic (ongoing) condition that disrupts your sleep 3 or more nights a week. You often move out of deep sleep and into light sleep when your breathing pauses and becomes shallow.
This results in poor sleep quality that makes you tired during the day. Sleep apnea is one of the leading causes of excessive daytime sleepiness.

Day 47 Fat Tuesday

We used to live in Hammond, LA, on the north shore of Lake Ponchatrain. I loved it there. Even the weather with those intense thunder and lightning storms that blew in from the gulf. We lived in a shotgun house up on stilts owned by the local barber, Mr. Louie, who was cajun. Late at night the radio would broadcast wonderful zydeco and cajun music from Lafayette.
New Orleans was a different place. Sirens all the time. When we first arrived there before moving to Hammond we stayed in a motel where they had a donut shop across the street. Everytime a new batch of donuts were ready a strobe light would come on and cars came from every which way and they would be packed until they turned the light off. Made us laugh.
Hope everyone enjoyed Mardi Gras because tomorrow is Ash Wednesday the starting of Lent. A time when I was a child that was not my favorite.

Monday, February 15, 2010

Day 46

The Westminster Dog Show is back! Each dog with their own characteristics are so undearing, I want to take them all home. I wish different dogs could win each year. The Poodle wone the Toy Group again. Anf the Puli won again and last year it won Best in Show. It is sort of like NASCAR, you start to wonder can someone else win this race?

Sunday, February 14, 2010

Day 45

Happy Chinese New Year
It is the Year of the Tiger, the White Tiger.
2010 is the Year of the White Tiger, which contains Metal, Wood and Fire. If your Lucky Element is Metal, Wood or Fire, then 2010 bring you some degree of luck. However, Wood can help fire burn, and Metal and Fire are opposite elements. If your Lucky Element is Metal, then Wood and Fire will be unlucky elements. If your Lucky Element is Wood, then Metal should be an unlucky element. This tells us that most people will gain some and lose some in 2010.
Hang onto our hats its going to be another bumpy year.

Saturday, February 13, 2010

Day 44

A nice drive out in the sunshine. It felt just like spring. I saw one termperature sign that said 51.
Looked at mattresses for the beds upstairs and a trip to Walmart. That was it for the day.

Friday, February 12, 2010

Day 43

Rainy day. Slow day at work. Good thing I had letters to send out which kept me busy for some of the day. It was snack day. I brought pistachios and apples. There were alot of healthy non-sugar snack to munch on.
Came home and watched Holmes on Homes in New Orleans and then a little bit of the Olympics. Went to bed early, could not keep my yes open.

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Day 42

A day full of errands. I took a vacation day. First off Sam, my little dog, was having problems walking and he just cried and whined. I got the tags paid on Michael's car because he forgot to do so. Kept him from getting a ticket. Sam to the vet. They kept him all day.
Took my car and got it washed and vaccumed. Then off to Mechanic's Pride on 3rd to get an oil change, new headlight and new wiper blades.
Picked up Michael from work and then off to pick up Sam. The news wasn't as bad as I expected. But he will be on pain relief management and a diet.
Errands are harder than working.

Day 41

I have added a fabulous friend's blog, After the Bridge, to my blog list. Welcome Sherry!

Day 40

I heard a song today by Nanci Griffith that is as true today as it was 20 years ago when I first listened to it.
Time of Inconvenience
We're living in a time of inconvenience
Compassion fails me with this meanness in the air
Our city streets are filled with violence
So we close our doors to the city
And pretend that it's not there
Here I go again
Back out on these mean streets
The evil seems to cling to the soles of my feet
Cuz' I'm living in a time of inconvenience
At an inconvenient time
We're living in the age of communication
Where the only voices heard have money in their hands
Where greed has become a sophistication
And if you ain't got money
You ain't got nothin' in this land
An' here I am one lonely woman
On these mean streets
Where the right to life man has become my enemy
Cuz' I'm living in his time of inconvenience
I've turned my cheek
As my history fades
While the clock ticks away
Any progress we've made
I never thought
I'd be ashamed to be human
Afraid to say
My time has seen it's day
Cuz I'm living in a time of inconvenience
It's an inconvenient time
This is the time of greed and power
Where everyone needs to have someone to shove around
Our children come to us for answers
Listening for freedom but they don't know the sound
And there they are, our children
Dumped out in these mean streets
Thee evil sweeps them up
And brings them to their knees
Cuz they're living in our time of inconvenience
They're living in the time of communication
This is the time of greed and power
This is the time that I wish was not mine
Cuz it's an inconvenient time

Day 39

There was lots to do at work today. Michelle took a vacation day. My wonderful boss, who knew I still wasn't feeling quite well, made me see if I could move up my appointment and leave early. So I did just that.
At the clinic I was so surprised to see my friend Melissa working at the front desk. She looked so happy. Levels were perfect. EKG still shows being eratic. But I actually got to see the doctor, who now recommends doing the other procedure. New medicine and an appointment next Thursday to talk about the procedure.
Quiet evening and an early turn in.

Sunday, February 7, 2010

Day 38

Another lazy day. Mostly doing chores around the house and watching tv. I wanted to see the Yuppy Puppy's Puppy Bowl, but, it must have been on before I woke up.

Saturday, February 6, 2010

Day 37

Lazy day. We didn't really get going till about noon. The sun was shining so we took a drive out to the valley. I was surprised to see how many businesses have closed down. Parts of Spokane look like a ghost town.
While out in the valley we stopped at Winco and did some grocery shopping. That pretty much tired me out so, we headed for home.
We watched the movie Seraphim Falls starring Liam Neeson and Pierce Bronson. It was different. We voted it a 3.
Took a nap. When we finally got up because the dogs needed to go outside. We stayed up and watched tv. Because of the nap we stayed up till after midnight.

Friday, February 5, 2010

Day 36

I am so happy today is Friday! The weekend forecast is looking nice, so that will be great. Hopefully we will get the front door stained.
I went to work even though not feeling well. Stayed as long as I could and finally went home. I spent the day doing quiet and restful things.

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Day 35

I actually had a good day today. I felt almost like my real self. My boss is gone skiing for the next 2 days.
Heard from someone in my past and it made me smile. Opened the flood gate to memories of 40 years ago.
Tonight we watched the movie Hurt Locker. I don't usually like war movies, but, this one sucked me in and it was good. It made me hate war and The idiot Bush even more. Why are we still in Iraq? What do we hope to win? Hearts and Minds? Never going to happen.

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

Day 34

In recent days I have good days and I have bad days. Today was close to being on the bad edge. I am hoping once I have the procedure I will start feeling like normal again.
I made an eye exam for next week. Has it been a year already?
I added Tony to my bloglist. Hi Tony!!

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Day 33

It's Groundhog Day and I hear we are in store of 6 more weeks of winter. Rainy this morning. They are saying rain for the next 2 days.
I have been interested in this story about the group of Idaho Baptists who were arrested for trying to haul 30 children across the border. What were they thinking? Their building not even completed, stockpiles of essentials far from what is needed they head for the streets of Haiti to gather up some younguns for their orphanage. Never mind that 2 of the 30 children are yelling they are not orphans. Or proper paperwork to remove these children. No child histories, not even their names. All the while they are thinking they are above the law doing "God's" work. There are no free adoptions so I am sure they were planning on using the proceeds to complete their unfinished building, so, there is the greed factor at play here. The Haitian government wants to make an example of them, and, I think they should.

Day 32

I am saddened that two of my friends that have wonderful blogs have decided to take a break from blogging. I will miss reading their posts and comments, but, I understand. Blogging takes a commitment and if you have other things going on in your life its hard to keep it up.
It was a busy Monday at work, as always. Worked through my lunch. Had a clinic appointment at 4:00. The coumadin levels came way down, so again she increased the dosage to bring it back up. The EKG showed my heartbeats around the seventies (almost normal).
Came home and made soup for dinner. I guess we are in for some rain in the next few days. Watched a few shows we had recorded. One was Dogtown. If I win the lottery I would donate alot of money to them. They just are so awesome. I had recorded 2 episodes of a new Food Network show Mexican Made Easy. The recipes seemed boring and nothing new, so, I deleted without watching the whole shows.
Heading to bed early. Hope everyone has a fab Tuesday.
