Monday September 28

This is our last day of really nice weather. Tommorow it all turns to fall, which really isn't all that bad. Our fall season is so short up here in the Northwest. The leaves turn and then fall and then snow comes...but let's not rush that quite yet.

Today like most Mondays went pretty fast because we were so busy. End of the month is always busy. My boss was gone on a vacation day. I wore one of my new skirts because the weather was still nice.

We had left over lasagna tonight with salad. I have a 1/2 pan of it to freeze. Time to think soups, stoups and stews.

Tomorrow I have another chance at Mega Millions. $88 million. That would be nice, wouldn't it? Just to pay off the bills, house and cars would be heaven.

2 more days and I turn 57. Just doesn't seem possible.

Hope you all have a lucky Tuesday.

Saturday September 19

I spent the day at Loon Lake with family. The weather was a fall preview. Cool, breezy with a few sprinkles thrown in. Loved it! Had a lovely fried chicken dinner on the deck. Thanks Mom for all the hard work. And thanks Carol for cleaning up.

Monday September 14

Since I could not think of anything interesting to say, I found a meme I would like to play.
My task is now to make a list of seven things I like that does not include people.
1. Beading. I love creating beautiful things. Mixing glass, metal and wood using colors I could get lost for hours. Making a little bit of money doing so is great too.
2. My dogs, Lady and Sammie. They give me everlasting joy.
3. My car, a black KIA Optima named Jiffy. I love driving and have since the first time I sat behind the wheel of my Dad's Galaxy 500. I love to put the sun roof open, music on and just drive. Doesn't matter where, just go.
4. My job. I love what I do for a living. I love helping people. I love my little office surrounded by some of things I love, like the print Michael bought me and my pirate ship.
5. Blogging. I love posting pictures and writing what I feel like for the day. I have met some of the nicest people ever. Some even kindred..(you know who you are) and reading their posts have helped form some of my opinions more strongly.
6. Television. I am a child of the 50's and 60's and grew up watching television. Currently my favorite shows are True Blood, Operation Repo, Oprah, Keith O and Rachel and so many others.
7. Reading and collecting books. I have 5 bookshelves throughout the house filled with all kinds of books. Fiction, non-fiction, New Age, Cookbooks, Craft Books. Currently I am still reading Nine Lives by Dan Baum.
The meme says to tag 4 people:
Steve
Vikki
Lisa
Bob
Have a fantastic Tuesday.

Sunday September 13

We had planned on going to the county fair today, but, changed our minds. We spent alot of money yesterday and it is supposed to be in the 90's this afternoon so if we do decide to go it will be later this week.

I did get up early and went to the grocery store for the week before everyone is out of church and before it got too warm.

We watched the movie Heavens Prisioners and I made hot dogs for lunch. Then I took a well needed nap.

This afternoon I am working on jewelry. But you know where we will be at 6:00 - in front of the tv watching the finale of True Blood. It has been a great 2nd season. What will we watch while we are waiting for season 3 when it starts next September?

About the health plan debate.

I just don't understand that people don't get it. It's not free insurance for everyone - they will have to pay premiums for it.

The insurance you have through your employer would be better coverage than what you will be able to buy from a govt offered insurance plan. If you were comparing coverages like education, the difference would be like going to Stanford or going to a State College. This country thinks nothing of sending free medicine and health services all over the world, but, have a problem helping its own. I just shake my head.

Saturday September 12

The dogs did not have to go to The Yuppy Puppy till noon, so, I had time to sleep in and take it easy this morning. Michael went to work for a few hours.

We dropped the dogs off and then headed to Sears. We were hoping they had a Consumer Cellular kiosk there as their website had mentioned, but, all they had was a small display and unhelpful sales people who knew nothing of the product or plans. We wandered over to the tools and a really helpful sales guy sold me some Craftsman Jewelry Making Tools. And they were on sale and guaranteed for life.

We were hungry after that and couldn't decide where to eat. Drove around and finally decided on the new Phillipino place on Francis. It was just okay. The people were nice. In the same stip mall I went and rolled my Lotto ticket winnings into a new quick pick ticket for tonight's game.

After washing the car we also stopped at Michael's Crafts, and have they ever expanded their bead department! It was like going to mecca! LOL. Found and bought alot of new beads and findings to make some really cool things for my end of month show.

Friday September 11

My older dog, Lady, had a bad night last night. I took off from work and took her to the vet. He drew some blood work and gave her new medicine that seems to be making her feel so much better. This is good news.

Massage therapy appointment this afternoon. Thank you Barb! I am feeling a lot better than I did when I walked in this afternoon.

Stopped at KFC to bring dinner home. I'm ready to go to bed early since we did not get much sleep last night because of Lady's problems.

Have a happy Saturday.

Thursday September 10

Yesterday on my lunch hour I checked out a new store in town. DSW. A fabulous shoe store for both men and women. I bought a pair of flat gray felt boots. So cute, I cannot wait to wear them.

President Obama's speech was fabulous! It seems the 2 parties are so divided that they have forgotten why they are there. For the people...not for your party. I am almost sick of politics. I said almost. Today at lunch after going to the bank I found a shady spot and listened to the Ed Schultz show on the radio.

Michael's sister, Carol, and husband, Roger are expected to be in Spokane today. Plans for this evening is to make tacos. Weather is still behaving and staying beautiful. It is going to warm up over the weekend for the last of summer.

Wednesday September 9

Not much going on today. Just another day like so many others. Enjoying the early fall like weather.

Tuesday September 8

Back to work today. Three days off sure go faster than 3 days working. It is my 1 year anniversary at work. How quickly a year flies by. When I got back from lunch I found a beautiful crystal vase with pink roses and a happy card with a shih tzu on it with alot of nice things written by my boss and co-workers. I love working here.

Labor Day September 7

Cold this morning. Feels like cold rain coming. Just working around the house today.

Random thoughts:

Toby Keith's new song and video, American Ride, suck! He is too far to the right for me. I don't buy his cd's and I don't buy his concert tickets when he comes here. No use supporting someone so diametrically opposite from what I believe.

Is there any holiday a furniture or mattress store won't have a holiday sale for?

Dropped off some old clothes at Goodwill. Another receipt for the taxman. While I was out I stopped for a coffee at Wutz Brewin'. I ordered a Dublin Berry Mocha.

Sunday September 6

Just a nice day at home. I hope you are all enjoying your holiday weekend.

Saturday September 5

My desktop computer caught a bad virus so I am using Michael's computer and my laptop until mine is fixed.
This morning, after stopping for coffee, I am accompanying Michael to his chiropractor visit. He twisted his back. Aren't we a pair? Me with my hurt arm and him with his back.
I am making a big pan of enhiladas to last for 2 days. Lots of jewelry to make. We are turning the guest room into Michael's office. So we have enough to keep us busy over this 3 day weekend.
Random thoughts for the day:
Are the right wing extremists getting just a bit weirder than normal? Has Beck gone off the deep end? Did losing make the repoobs go over the edge? I almost cannot stand to watch the news anymore.
Sam Elliot, Tom Selleck and Ben Johnson were lip smacking delicious in the movie Shadow Riders....I'm just saying...I need to buy this movie for our western collection.

Friday September 4

It is finally Friday, the start to the 3 day weekend. No big plans, but just going to enjoy this end of summer weekend with great weather.

I am going to see Barb, the massage therapist this afternoon. I've been looking forward to that since our last visit.

Thursday September 3

Two more days until the 3 day weekend. They are predicting weather in the 70's today.
Thoughts for the day:
Healthcare - Obama should say screw the republicans and do what 72% of the people in America want and that is to reform the healthcare system. It is one of the promises he ran on and he should honor his promise. We have the majority now - so now is the time to move on it, before the midyear elections where who kows the crazies might win again.
Cheney should just go away and die somewhere.
CD I'm listening to right now in my car - Greatest Hits of Buffalo Springfield.
I agree that the Manson follower who stabbed Sharon Tate should stay in prison. Any woman who would do that to a pregnant woman should never be free, I don't care how sick she is.
Still reading the book, "Nine Lives" by Dab Baum. It is about 9 people from all walks of life in New Orleans and how they survived hurricanes Betsy and Katrina. I swear I am the sloweest reader ever. My BOMC2 selection for the month has shipped. I chose Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove Cookbook. I want to start collecting all the Suzie Stackhouse novels and get them read by the time True Blood starts up again next summer.
If the price of oil is going down, why in WA are we still pay almost $3.00 a gallon? Can anyone say gouging?
No, I am not going to Pig Out in the Park this year. Spokane has a event where local restaurants set up in the park and sell their food at really expensive prices and they have bands play at night. I went one year and really wasn't that impressed.
Have a thrilling Thursday.

Wednesday September 2

I spent my lunch hour at Rings and Things wanting everything, but, buying many strands of beautiful lampwork beads that were on sale. My mind is going crazy with all the creative possibilities I can do with these beads.
Hot today, with promises of cooler weather on the way for the weekend. 3 day weekend!
We plan more work around the house and garage (depending on the weather) for the weekend. I'm trying to decide what movie to rent, since True Blood will not be on this Sunday night. The finale is next week.

Tuesday September 1

I have made an appointment today during my lunch hour for my first of six massage therapy sessions in hopes it will help ease the tendonitis in my arm.
